The British Library – home to the Magna Carta and Shakespeare’s First Folio – has announced a new exhibition on Harry Potter. Opening in autumn 2017, the show will mark the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone, the first of the books in the boy wizard series. The British Library said that the Harry Potter exhibition – which does not yet have a name – “will take readers on a journey to the heart of the Harry Potter stories” looking at everything from medieval descriptions of dragons and griffins, to the origins of the philosopher’s stone. “I’ve got to go to the library!” – Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets The British Library’s head of culture and learning Jamie Andrews said: “We at the British Library are thrilled to be working with JK Rowling and with Bloomsbury to mark the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter, and to inspire fans with the magic of our own British Library collections.” The exhibition runs from October 20 2017 until February 28 2018 and tickets will be on sale from spring next year.
